The Hyde Park Community Art Fair (HPCAF) started in 1968 as a group of unorganized artists and vendors who were set up at will in the park on 57th Street Art Fair Weekend.
Later, it was organized a little more by an artist, Sophie Wessel, who had been in the 57th Street Art Fair and an Artists from Artisans 21, a co-op gallery. As time went on, the HPCAF grew under the guidance of DInah Cody and Dorri Ellis. OnSite Coordinator Laura Olszanowski and her experienced team help ensure all the artists needs are met.
Art Fair weekend often coincides with The University of Chicago's Alumni Weekend, drawing crowds upwards of 20,000. Large Food court nearby, music and kids activities. Fun family weekend!
